I really want a new front door. Ours is solid and it makes our little living room even darker than it already is. I don&#39;t really want a Home Depot door either but it hadn&#39;t occurred to me that an old door could be made functional as a new exterior door. Are their special criteria that you would look for when picking out a &quot;new&quot; door? I love old doors. You are right such character, and history. Years ago I did a restauruant in downtown Toronto that had heritage designation, so we had to work with the existing door which was divine, but swung the wrong way (building code). We searched high and low to find a master carpenter to re-hinge and re-hang it he truly was a master and it totally sets the stage for what you walk into.
